Students at our Heidelberg campus recently took part in Schiller International University’s Career Days, a two-day initiative designed to provide international student career opportunities through workshops, expert sessions, and direct engagement with professionals.
As part of wider university career events in Europe, including Career Days Madrid and Career Days Paris, Career Days Heidelberg combined on-campus activities with Global Talks, creating a valuable cross-campus learning experience focused on real-world industry insights and global career pathways.
Bridging Classroom Learning with Real-World Careers
These Schiller Heidelberg campus events brought together professionals from consulting, technology, public policy, communications, and business to support career development for students. Across both days, participants:
- Attended student career workshops and presentations
- Engaged in networking with professionals
- Explored diverse and non-linear career paths
- Gained practical career guidance for international students
With more than 40 students participating, the sessions created a highly interactive environment that encouraged discussion, reflection, and meaningful international career exposure.
Day 1: Public Policy, Consulting, Technology, and Social Impact
The first day focused on careers in international organizations, consulting, and innovation-driven industries.
Careers in Consulting and Global Organizations
Following opening remarks from Campus Director Sanja Stevic, students were introduced to opportunities within consulting and global organizations. A session led by Ralf Storch from SAS highlighted the benefits of the SAS–Schiller partnership and the global career opportunities available to students through this collaboration.
Students also participated in a consulting workshop led by Mithun A. Sridharan, where they explored:
- Consulting career pathways
- Case interview preparation
- Market sizing exercises
This session provided practical insight into careers in business and technology, while building key analytical and problem-solving skills.
Public Policy and Social Impact Careers
Dr. Marilena Geugjes, Member of the State Parliament of Baden-Württemberg, offered insight into international relations careers and public service, sharing her experience working in government and policymaking.
The day concluded with an industry expert panel at the university featuring professionals from Dell Technologies, ADM, and other organizations. The panel explored how careers can combine communication, technology, and purpose-driven work—highlighting emerging global career pathways across sectors.
Day 2: Career Readiness and Direct Employer Engagement
The second day focused on practical career preparation, with students attending the Karrieretag Karlsruhe job fair.
Real-World Career Exposure at Karrieretag Karlsruhe
At the event, students engaged directly with recruiters, employers, and career coaches—gaining valuable international career exposure. This format allowed students to build their own experience, selecting sessions aligned with their personal and professional goals. Activities included:
- CV and application portfolio reviews
- Career coaching sessions
- Workshops on interviews, negotiation, and personal branding
- Talks on job market trends and career planning
Developing Skills for Competitive Job Markets
Workshops throughout the day focused on:
- Interview preparation and confidence-building
- Self-presentation and communication

Students also had the opportunity to engage in direct global industry leaders interaction, asking questions, exploring job opportunities, and gaining a deeper understanding of the German and international job markets.
