On Sunday, June 14, the Madrid Campus hosted the first-ever Ambassadors’ Schiller Cup. The padel tournament that took place in Club de Tenis Chamartín brought together diplomats and students for a day of friendly competition, cultural exchange, and community building—continuing Schiller's commitment to sports.
With a total of 22 players participating, alongside many students who came to watch and cheer on their peers, the first edition of the tournament proved to be a great success and was enjoyed by all involved.
Following the tournament, students had the opportunity to connect with ambassadors and diplomatic representatives from different countries in a relaxed and informal setting. These conversations offered a unique chance to exchange ideas, learn from diverse perspectives, and strengthen the ties between our academic and diplomatic communities.
This year’s champions, Jaime Burguera and Santiago Velo de Antelo, were awarded the Pegasus Trophy, created in collaboration with Ayúdame3D, a Spanish social organization that uses 3D-printing technology to improve lives around the world through the design and free distribution of assistive devices and prosthetic arms for people with disabilities.
The Ambassadors’ Cup reflects the University’s international spirit and commitment to creating meaningful connections beyond the classroom. By combining sport with opportunities for intercultural dialogue, the tournament provided a unique platform for students and diplomats to engage with one another in a dynamic and welcoming environment.
We extend our sincere thanks to all participants and organizers from Club de Tenis Chamartín and Academia de la Diplomacia who helped make this first edition possible. The enthusiasm and support shown throughout the day have laid the foundation for what we hope will become a cherished Schiller tradition for years to come!
