Our Commitment to Global Impact

At Schiller International University, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are embedded in how we design education, shape student experience, and contribute to society across our international campuses.

As a global institution operating across multiple countries, we recognize our responsibility to support inclusive, ethical, and future-oriented education. Our alignment with the SDGs reflects a long-term commitment to sustainability, equity, global citizenship, and measurable impact.

This approach is reinforced through our participation in international benchmarking and reporting frameworks, including GEDU-aligned sustainability reporting, which emphasizes transparency, accountability, and measurable impact in higher education.

This commitment is reinforced through Schiller’s collaboration within the United Nations ecosystem, including partnerships aligned with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). Through this engagement, Schiller contributes to global conversations on sustainable development, gender equality, and responsible leadership in higher education.

Schiller’s SDG Approach

Schiller integrates the SDGs across three core dimensions:

Academic Integration

We embed global challenges into our academic programs, ensuring students engage with real-world issues such as inequality, sustainability, digital transformation, ethical leadership, and responsible business.

Student & Community Engagement

We promote initiatives, events, and experiences that encourage active participation in social impact, inclusion, gender equality, and global awareness across our campuses.

Institutional Responsibility

We strengthen governance, communication, and operational practices that reflect ethical standards, transparency, accountability, and sustainable development principles.

Schiller’s Focus for 2026: SDG5 – Gender Equality

In 2026, Schiller is placing a dedicated strategic focus on SDG5: Gender Equality.

Gender equality is central to Schiller’s mission as an international university. Across our campuses, academic programs, events, and student initiatives, we are working to create an environment where women are represented, supported, and empowered to lead.

How Schiller Is Advancing SDG5

Schiller’s SDG5 strategy is built around four key pillars:

Academic Programs & Global Innovation Challenge

We integrate gender equality themes into academic learning and innovation-focused activities, helping students explore inclusive solutions to global challenges.

In 2026, the 5th edition of the Global Innovation Challenge was developed in collaboration with Deputy Mayor of the City of Heidelberg Stefanie Jansen, engaging students in tackling civic innovation and urban development challenges.

Wednesday Talks & Workshops

Through talks, workshops, and awareness initiatives, we create space for dialogue around gender equality, leadership, workplace inclusion, and social impact.

Activities for Staff & Alumni Engagement

We engage our wider community through initiatives that encourage participation, recognition, and shared responsibility for advancing equality.

Career Fairs & Professional Development

We support women’s career readiness and professional growth through mentorship, networking, employer engagement, and workplace-focused initiatives.

Institutional & Academic Impact

As part of our 2026 SDG5 roadmap, Schiller is working to:

Celebrate women’s achievements across all campuses.
Provide mentorship and career development opportunities for women.
