This month, Schiller International University launched the first session of our new Current Affairs Briefing series, an initiative designed to bring our community closer to the global conversations shaping today’s world. This exclusive session was open to Schiller students and alumni, offering direct access to expert insight from within our own academic network.
“Iran at a Crossroads: Understanding the Current Crisis and Possible Regional Scenarios” was led by Professor Dr. Hossein Zarhani, faculty member at our Heidelberg campus.
During the session, Professor Zarhani provided essential historical and sociopolitical context to help participants better understand the complexities behind the current situation in Iran and the broader region. By grounding the discussion in this context, he offered a structured framework for interpreting recent developments.
The briefing then moved into a more in-depth analysis of the crisis, where he explored the key dynamics at play, the nuances of the conflict, and the range of possible outcomes and future regional scenarios. His insights highlighted the interconnected nature of political, economic, and societal factors shaping the situation.
“The current crisis in Iran is not just about politics at home, it is a lens into the complex interactions shaping the Middle East today.” - Dr. Hossein Zarhani
The session concluded with an engaging Q&A segment, where participants had the opportunity to ask questions and further deepen their understanding of the topic. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Professor Zarhani for sharing his time and expertise with our community.
This first session marks the beginning of the Current Affairs Briefing series, which we will continue to develop as a space for our community to engage with timely global issues. Through this initiative, we aim to leverage the expertise of Schiller’s global and diverse network to provide meaningful insight into the events shaping our world.
