Bridging Theory and Practice: A Guest Lecture on International Diplomacy at Schiller International University

At Schiller International University’s Heidelberg Campus, students recently had the unique opportunity to engage directly with the world of international diplomacy. The highlight of the session was a guest lecture featuring Stefan Ionkov, Consul General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Munich, offering firsthand insights into the practice and responsibilities of diplomacy.

The lecture was co-organized and moderated by Manuela Toteva, PhD, Global Marketing Content Manager at SAP and adjunct faculty member at Schiller International University and the Technical University of Ilmenau. Dr. Toteva guided a dynamic discussion, linking academic concepts to practical diplomatic experiences.

During the session, Mr. Ionkov explored key aspects of a Consul General’s work, including career pathways in international diplomacy and the important connections between diplomatic engagement and investment attraction.
