Alumni Spotlight: Alejandro Riquelme

Meet Alejandro Riquelme, an accomplished alumnus of Schiller International University. Alejandro attended Schiller's Madrid campus from 2023 to 2024, where he pursued a Bachelor's degree in International Business. Currently residing in Madrid, he works as a FIFA Agent at Wasserman Football, a role that allows him to combine his passion for sports with his expertise in international business. Alejandro's journey to Schiller began as a transfer student from St. John’s University. He sought to complete his degree at an American university and found Schiller to be the best option due to its diverse international environment, academic excellence, and the unique opportunities it offers.

Can you share some of your fondest memories from your time at Schiller International University?

My time at Schiller was great. I had great relationships with the professors and people on campus. My classmates were diverse, and I learnt a lot from different cultures. My fondest memory at Schiller could be when I first got into the building I felt a nice and professional atmosphere.

How would you describe the spirit and culture of Schiller during your years on campus?

The spirit and culture of Schiller originates from the passion for what they do and their efforts to transmit that to the students.

How would you describe the spirit and culture of Schiller during your years on campus?

The spirit of Schiller was global, inclusive, and full of life. It felt like the world in one classroom—everyone brought something different to the table, and that diversity made it exciting and inspiring. The culture was open-minded, adventurous, and full of curiosity. We learned as much from each other as we did from our courses—and we had a lot of fun doing it!

During your recent visit, what changes did you notice on the campus compared to your time as a student?

When I started at Schiller, the new campus had just opened. Everything was really nice, despite the space being relatively empty because of the change of campus. Right now, it looks amazing. It's a spectacular building to teach and boost our future.

Are there any qualities of the Schiller education that you believe continue to benefit students today?

The purpose of Schiller education is to offer a different view of what a typical education program could be. The interactions with the activities, the diversity of professors, students and classes make the student more qualified. From my point of view, if you want to be different, you have to be surrounded by triggers and factors that will make you think outside the box.

How has your education at Schiller played a role in your life since graduation?

It made me more prepared for any obstacle that I have faced before. When you leave the comfort zone and challenge yourself, whenever you have an issue, you face it fearless.

What are some skills or tools you learned at Schiller that you use frequently on your line of work as a FIFA Agent?

Since my degree is in international business, it applies to business and negotiations that we do abroad currently. I know how the international economy works around the world and that allows me better understand certain situations.

What do you consider to be the most valuable aspect of your Schiller experience?

The most valuable aspect of my Schiller experience was the agile, international education. Being able to move between campuses in countries like England, France, Germany, and Spain gave me the chance to immerse myself in different cultures, pick up new languages, and adapt quickly to new environments—skills that have been incredibly useful throughout my global career.

What advice would you give to current students to help them make the most of their Schiller experience?

When you feel overwhelmed, keep believing in this part of the process. People who have been successful, have also gone through this moment many times. If you really want it, you'll feel that you are on the right track.
