How does the American education system work?"
Our study programs are defined according to the academic system used throughout the United States.
The American system measures progress in credit hours and we use the semester credit hour system. For a typical 3 semester credit hour lecture course, you will participate in a total of 45 hours (15 hours x 3 credits) of instruction.
One academic hour is defined as 50 minutes of instruction during a 60-minute period. Each one (1) credit hour of a lecture requires two (2) contact hours of outside course work. For a typical three (3) semester credit hour lecture course, you are expected to complete outside class work equating to 90 hours (45 contact hours of actual class time plus an additional 90 contact hours of outside course work).
How can I get a double degree?
If you wish to earn two degrees you must complete all requirements for both degrees.
The first degree must be completed before pursuing requirements for the second degree. Any equivalent Schiller courses that are common across both academic programs can be used to meet requirements for both degrees if the courses were successfully completed within the last ten (10) years of the date of registration for the second degree.
