Undergraduate Admissions Requirements

Schiller International University receives applications from almost every country in the world, representing a great variety of educational systems.

Admission to Schiller International University (SIU) is open to all qualified applicants regardless of race, color, creed, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, or ability/disability. Anyone wishing to attend SIU can obtain the necessary application from the Office of Admissions or online from our website at www.schiller.edu. All students must submit a completed application and a non-refundable application fee. SIU is required to have official documentation that certifies that the applicant has completed the equivalent of an American high school education and is prepared to undertake university-level work in English.

Although there is no application deadline, SIU strongly advises applicants who require visas to apply at least four (4) months before the beginning of the term for which they wish to enroll. International students are also subject to a $65 courier fee for processing and delivery of student visa documentation.

International applicants who are granted a visa to attend SIU must commit to an enrollment of at least two academic semesters (eight months) of continuous enrollment in order to be admitted to SIU. If an international student withdraws or transfers prior to the completion of the minimum two semesters (eight months), the tuition and fees are non-refundable.

International students must complete the following steps prior to enrollment:

  • Proof of successful completion of secondary education
  • Proof of financial support
  • Advance deposit of tuition and fees

Evidence of English Proficiency

Schiller International University has an Evidence of English fluency requirement for both Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions entry.

This requirement may be waived for students who have graduated from a secondary (Associates/Bachelor’s degree seeking students) where English is the language of instruction or the country’s official language is English. This requirement can be satisfied by providing official documentation of scores achieved for one of the following English language proficiency examinations.  Schiller International University must receive the official scores via the Admissions Office. Tests must be less than two years old from date of enrollment. Minimum scores accepted are noted below. 

  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) 80 for Bachelor, 89 for Masters (IBT – Internet version) Schiller TOEFL number is 0835.
  • TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) score of at least 650 for Bachelor.
  • IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score of at least 6.0 for Bachelor.
  • CAMBRIDGE FCE (First Certificate in English) grade of “B” (B2 level) Or higher – Cambridge Advanced (CAE) or Proficiency (CPE) preferred.
  • Duolingo English Exam –score of at least 95 for Bachelor.

Students graduating from the Tampa Language Center who have successfully completed a Level 6 program are eligible for admission.


Graduate Admissions Requirements

Applicants must have a Bachelor degree or its equivalent. Students with undergraduate degrees in another field may be required to complete preparatory courses. For entry into the MIM program, the applicant may hold a Bachelor degree in any field.  Applicants must have maintained a good academic record in their undergraduate studies.

Evidence of English Proficiency

Schiller International University has an Evidence of English fluency requirement.

Tests must be less than two years old from date of enrollment. Minimum scores accepted are noted below. 

  • TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) 89 (IBT – Internet version) for Masters, Schiller, TOEFL number is 0835.
  • TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) score of at least 700 for Masters.
  •  IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score of at least 6.5 for Masters.
  • CAMBRIDGE FCE (First Certificate in English) grade of “B” (B2 level) Or higher – Cambridge Advanced (CAE) or Proficiency (CPE) preferred.
  • Duolingo English Exam – Score of at least 105 for Masters.

Students graduating from the Tampa Language Center who have successfully completed a Level 6 program are eligible for admission.

Technology Requirements

All graduate students are strongly encouraged to have a laptop computer. The laptop must be Pentium-based with a 28.8 speed modem, the usual office software (Suggested: Windows XP or higher) and WIFI capability. Schiller International University will make laptops available for a fee if a student does not already own one.  Please refer to the Technology Requirements page for more information.
