Jamaica Represents at Schiller Tampa Bay

We are proud to have Colleen Campbell hang her Jamaican flag to our ever growing flag collection at the Tampa Bay Campus.  Colleen started at the Tampa campus March 2017 and is working on her Bachelors in International Hospitality and Tourism Management.  She is the first student we have from the beautiful island of Jamaica, and is very proud of her heritage.  Please welcome Colleen as you pass her and keep posted for our next new country to be represented.

Schiller International University Has a Rowdie Night

Schiller International University Has a Rowdie Night

Students and staff jumped in a Uber and on a beautiful Saturday night (April 22, to be exact) and headed to downtown St. Petersburg to take in a Tampa Bay Rowdies game. Since we had a little time to kill we had our Uber driver drop us off at Joey Brooklyn’s, New York Pizzeria.  While our pizza was being made we walked around the city a bit. Taking in the music, crowds and energy of this old southern city. Arriving back just in time for our pizza to come out of the oven piping hot, we had a quick bite then off to the match.

As we joined the sea of green and yellow jerseys heading to the stadium, we exchanged stories of how soccer/football is in the students home country.

Once we were in the stadium and settled in we enjoyed a very close match against the Charleston Battery. But after being tied or ahead,  the Rowdies fell to the Battery by one goal in the last minutes of the game. But that did not dampen our good time. In fact we headed back to downtown to enjoy the city a bit more. Then on the Uber back home, everyone was in agreement, this is a city we have to see again.

Staff Spotlight, Jeanette Espinal

Meet Jeanette Espinal, Schiller University’s Corporate Registrar.  Jeanette has been working with SIU since the beginning of 2017 and has been in the industry for over 7 years.  She begun in the Financial Aid department, then moved to the Registrar department and most recently served as a Campus President.  Jeanette describes herself as seeing things in “black and white”, which is why she enjoys her job and the compliance aspect of it in abundance.   She sees the role of the registrar in any school as the “central piece of the puzzle the keeps the whole puzzle connected”, while maintaining the academic integrity and carrying out the mission of the University.

Personally, Jeanette is from Jersey with roots from  the Dominican Republic and is very proud of her heritage.  When asked what her hobby is, she explained that it’s enjoying different cuisine from around the world. Before moving to the Tampa Bay area she lived in West Palm Beach, where she goes back often to see her family.

Welcome Jeanette!!!!
