Schiller International University - An American University in Heidelberg
The Heidelberg Campus provides an exceptional study environment, here in the romantic German city where more than six hundred years of academic tradition underpin the latest ideas and innovations. Nowhere is education taken more seriously, or pursued in such charming surroundings. In Heidelberg you can stroll, muse or network where university professors and scholars have walked and talked for centuries. There is even a famous scenic walk across the river that is named for them: Philosophenweg. Occupying an Art Nouveau villa which is itself listed as a national monument, the Schiller campus is situated in a residential area near the main shopping district and the historic city center.
Heidelberg, centerpiece of Germany's academic landscape, is home to its oldest university and library, as well as its latest high-tech industry and scientific research. Dominated by its famous ruined castle on the hill above the Old Town, this picturesque city combines old-world charm and a youthful, vibrant atmosphere. Amidst the cobblestone streets, baroque architecture, medieval bridges and walls, cultural and recreational distractions are everywhere you look. Yet there is no mistaking Heidelberg's world-class status in business and technology, as exemplified by the new Technology Park, one of the largest of its kind.
Students from around the world come together to participate in a range of challenging and rewarding programs. Their time studying here opens a unique window on Germany's history and future. The country's pivotal role within the European Union informs and gives context to our program options in International Business, International Relations & Diplomacy, International Economics and Management of Information Technology, to name but a few. German language classes can be a part of any program.
Schiller's Heidelberg campus building, a beautiful Art Nouveau villa which is listed as a national monument, overlooks a scenic inner courtyard and houses classrooms, staff offices, the library, computer labs with Internet access, and a small bistro/snack bar, as well as accommodation for those students who do not live off-campus. You can choose from single and double rooms with co-op bathrooms, fully equipped self-serve kitchens, and laundry facilities.
The campus is conveniently located near to the preserved Old Town and the main shopping district. Cinemas, theaters, pubs, cafés and restaurants are all within easy walking distance. The Heidelberg campus also provides a useful base for activities further afield. We have organized trips to Berlin, Brussels and Strasbourg to explore cultural, social or vocational interests. Many students take advantage of the location and plan their own travels during vacations.
